What a hidden gem of an authentic Chinese restaurant with great service and alcohol selection. My family and I came here for New Year dinner and I had a great meal and time here. The dumplings are all great and the Chinese hamburger is very good too. The price for the food, you get your money worth.
Been meaning to try this new dumpling spot in Katy and I'm glad I did. We had the soup dumplings, chili oil wontons, wide spicy noodles, and walnut shrimp. Everything was really tasty and served promptly. The dumplings had a great texture and flavor. The batter on the shrimp was really nice. The service was good and I look forward to trying other options on their menu!
A very long overdue review. If I could choose one place that would never fail me in food and service, it's Steam Dumpling. They make their dough in house which means their noodles are just as good as the dumps. A highly welcome addition to the Katy food scene!
PAN FRIED DUMPLINGS!!! Went to steam dumpling today and ordered the steamed pork bun to start off, and chicken fried rice and chicken dumplings for my main course. Everything was fresh and delicious. Loved the crispy bits that accompany the dumplings. Don't miss out on the flavored teas, they are sweet and well balanced like a little dessert!
So my wife, her sister and I went a week ago no knowing what to expect. This location has been several different sushi restaurants and none stuck. But we like sushi and rolls and dumplings so we face it a try. We started with the cucumber salad and egg rolls and scallion pancakes. Spring rolls were ok, I don't like cucumber anything until it's a pickle but the ladies said it was very good. But the scallion pancakes were dang good. And it's more like a crepe or thin tortilla than pancake. Very good. Main course - we shared the vegetable dumplings and pork n cabbage dumplings, both pan fried. They come out all connected together as shown in the pic. The pork was my favorite. Warning - they come out hot, very hot. Let them cool a min. It was so good we went back today to try other items. I started with the potato n shrimp bites (can't remember the exact name). These were amazing. She had the cucumber salad again. For the dumplings, we tried the beef and onion. Again, they are hot. Definitely had an onion flavor. Pork n cabbage still my favorite. They have a full bar. Nice. No lunch menu. Can't wait to go back and try other things I've never had like the Chinese fried chicken.
I had no idea what to expect when I visited for lunch last week. I have never been to a "Dumpling House" before. It was outstanding. The service was great and the staff were very friendly. There were lots of people in the restaurant as well which was a nice change as this location used to be a few other restaurants that were never very crowded. Me and hubby will definitely return for dinner very soon! A little pricey for a quick lunch.
I'm glad there's a restaurant in this neighborhood that serves xiao long bao and pan fried dumplings! I've been eyeing this restaurant for quite some time but I'm never hungry when I drive past to stop by. Service is okay. Waited about ten minutes and no one walked past my area to get the bill. I end up going up to the counter to pay. Ambiance is nice and clean, as it should since they're pretty new. Could use a few more tables, it's pretty spacious inside. Dan Dan noodle was quite disappointing. It's pretty bland and nothing to remember it by. So much for being spicy. Xiao long bao was good but not enough soup inside. Also, every time I bite into it, it reminds me of a hair salon who is getting a perm. If you know the scent, you will know what I mean. They serve the sauce on the side so you don't have to mix your own. Though, I would have enjoyed some sliced ginger with it. Pan fried dumplings was the star of the show and I would come back for it, if I'm craving. However, it's not the best I've ever had. The best I had was in Montreal but we're in Katy Cinco Ranch so just gotta have to deal!
What a find! If you like good xlb and dumplings, look no further. The soup dumplings (5+/5) are legit, with thin almost transparent skin, but still filled with wonderful soup. It comes with pre-mixed sauce, which was a pleasant surprise. I'm used to mixing my own sauce (soy sauce + vinegar + ginger slices) but the sauce they provided was very tasty. No ginger but there was a sweetness to it to offset the tart vinegar. Even better, the pork and cabbage potstickers (5+/5) are the best I've had in town. The potstickers were crispy on the bottom and juicy on the inside and again the skin was not too thick. At other places it's usually lacking on one of those aspects. It was so good we ordered another plate just to try the shrimp and pork (5/5). It wasn't overly fried either, the fry was delicate and just the right amount of crunch. We also tried the steamed lamb shao mai (4.5/5) and I can't say I've tried that flavor combo before but again very well done. The waitress was nice and attentive and explained that everything was made in house by a master chef that they hired. Plenty of room inside, bright and clean everywhere. They just opened in May, so hopefully more people wander over as there was only one other table around 5 pm weekday. It's located in the Whole Foods strip center on the side facing 99 frontage road. Give this place a try! We're already planning our next visit~
KATY, TX 77494 / CHINESE / 08-30-24 / DINNER & TAKEOUT +Customer service was fair; place was busy packed for a Friday evening where the restaurants right next door were empty. +The xiao long bao was delicious. +The spicy beef noodle soup was good. +The little ones crushed the pan-fried pork and cabbage dumplings. -The scallion pancakes could've used some more green scallions. -MSG and sodium overload made me super sleepy. We shall be back to try the other dishes! We this place on social media and the hype is real. Go check them out and give them some Yelp love y'all.
Yummmm! I love this place. So happy they opened near my work. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. They are very attentive. The place is nice and new. Modern and open feeling. I really have enjoyed everything I've tried. The fried rice is a bit in the salty side but I still like it. The soup dumplings are plain amazing. We also loved the flat noodles. Really unique. Last time we had the onion pancake and it was my favorite. Great little spot! I hope they do well.
